FAQs for Clients
How does it work?
Once you have filled out the initial form, you will be pared with a Caregiver within 24 hours. If you chose the by-the-bag payment option, you will receive your canvas bags within five days. You and your Caregiver will decide on day and time of day for pick up. Package your laundry in canvas bags and leave outside in a spaced protected from the elements. Your Caregiver will let you know when they have picked it up, keep you updated on progress and deliver within 24-48 hours, unless otherwise noted. For more information on how it works, click here.
How much does it cost?
You choose to pay by the bag or by the pound. If you chose the canvas bag option, you will be invoiced for five (5) Cedar+Sage laundry bags ($30) and bags will be delivered once payment is received. Each filled canvas bag of laundry is $15. Large items such as comforters, pillows and large blankets are a flat $15 per item for all clients. Anything else not packaged in canvas bags is priced at $1.50/pound. There is a $15 minimum for all orders.. All payments are through Venmo @cedarandsageco and laundry is delivered after payment is received. Tips are accepted, but never expected. We find most weekly orders are $30-60 depending on family size and lifestyle
Where are you located?
We serve Indianapolis, Indiana and surrounding areas. If you do not have an Indianapolis address, but live in a neighboring city we recommending emailing us at hello[at]cedarandsage.co to check on availability before placing your order.
Where is my laundry being done?
Caregivers do all laundry inside their homes with their personal machines.
What detergents do you use?
You have the options of Biokleen Scented, Biokleen Free & Clear or providing your own detergent. We also use Borax as a water softener unless you tell us otherwise. We do not recommend (or thus, provide) dryer sheets or fabric softeners, but we will use it if you provide it.
Can I sign up temporarily?
Yep! There are no requirements for commitment. Though we serve most of our clients on a weekly basis, we have others who just need help for a few weeks during big life changes (medical issues, moving, new baby, etc.) and clients who just need help one time (broken washer, need to get caught up, etc.).
How do I pay?
All payments are through Venmo. Once we have pick up your laundry, you'll get a payment request from us. Payment is due before delivery.
Can I change my payment method?
Yes, if you'd like, you can start with paying by the pound to try it out and decide later you want to switch to paying by the bag. Paying by the bag is the lower cost and more environmentally-friendly option.
Can I customize how my laundry is washed and/or dried?
Yes. Our standard process is to wash on hot and dry all clothes on medium. We fold and package based on type of item (i.e. all pants are together) as well as family member, to the best of our ability. You are welcome to make changes to this process and will be prompted to so during the sign-up process.
Do you treat stains?
No, unless you ask us for help. Please pre-treat any stains beforehand or reach out to your Caregiver if you need assistance. We do not guarantee stain removal.
What if an item is lost or damaged?
We provide the highest level of care for our clients. However, accidents happen and it's easy for an item to become damaged in the laundry process. Our Caregivers are not responsible for damaged or lost items. However, if you have a major concern email us at hello[at]cedarandsage.co and we will work to remedy the situation.
Do you have a referral program?
Yes! For each person you send to Cedar+Sage, you receive one free bag of laundry ($15 value) after their order is complete.
How do I cancel?
You can cancel at any time, but please give your Caregiver as much notice as possible.
FAQs for Caregivers
How much income does a Caregiver make?
Caregivers are paid 80% of the cost of each order. Most orders are 2-5 bags at $15 each and most Caregivers take on average five orders orders per week, when/if available. Caregivers are responsible for the cost of supplies which include laundry detergent, Borax (if you do not have a water softener in your home), clear plastic bags and ties for bags. There are some, additional recommended supplies that are not required. Caregivers are also responsible for pick-up and delivery, so there are some additional costs for gasoline and vehicle wear and tear.
How do I sign up? How do I get orders?
The first step is to fill out this intake form. We will reach out to you within 24 hours to address any follow-up questions or concerns. From there, you will be sent a document of guidelines where you learn the Cedar+Sage process. You will take a short quiz to ensure you understand the agreement. Once the quiz is complete, you will be invited to our Caregiver Facebook Page where you can continue to learn tips on how to be successful. Once you are part of the Facebook group, you are eligible to be paired with a client. We will pair you according to demand, location, pet allergies and other factors. Once you have been paired, you decide if you want to take on the order.
Are Caregivers employed by Cedar+Sage? Do I need to pay taxes on my income?
Caregivers are contracted employees of Cedar+Sage. This means taxes are not taken out of payments made to Caregivers. Please consult with an accountant on arranging payment for income tax.
What do I do if the laundry is unsanitary or unsafe?
Clients promise to not send laundry that they wouldn't put in their own machines, especially that contain human or animal bodily fluids. However, if a situation arises that you are not comfortable with, you have the right to refuse the order. We will work with you on next steps if that situation arises.
Do I provide detergent or does the client provide it?
You are required to have Biokleen Scented and/or Free & Clear on hand (depending on your clients' needs) as well as Borax if you do not have a water softener. Clients also have the option of providing their own detergent if they want to use something else.
Can I do this part-time?
Definitely. In fact, most do. On average, each order takes about 24 hours from start to finish. We recommend you think about orders in days. In other words, however many days you are home, available and willing to do laundry you can take on that many clients. Don't forget about your own laundry!
Do I use my own washer and dryer?
Yes. We do not allow the use of laundry mats given the fact we don't have control over how the machines are being used.
How do I get the laundry?
You pick up the laundry from outside the client's home and drop off in the same spot.
